Migration

You are summoned into the office of the CEO.

You are told that new technology is now available to solve your pressing problems.

You have a deadline to implement it in 3 days.

Does it sound unreasonable? You are lucky. Does is sound familiar? You are lucky that Crashproof Solutions, LLC. exists to help you with the task.

The need to migrate may arise because of operating system upgrades, core server software upgrades, e-mail system upgrades, enterprise-wide security adjustments, new company acquisitions require IP renumbering, and any number of other events.

We would like to offer our expertise in performing system and network migrations. Whether it's something as simple as migrating Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000. Wow, do I mean that it is simple for Crashproof Solutions, LLC. to perform? Another simple case is NT4 to Windows 2000. A complicated case would be cc:Mail to Exchange 2000 along with Netware 4.11 to Windows 2000.

Explaining how we perform the migrations would take too long, and in fact would deserve to be written in a book. Let us look at what happens after we complete the project.

Here is the result after the core of our work for you is complete in our role as Migration Specialists as of 12/31/2001:

  • We have installed the new software.
  • We have backed up the data and tested its restorability.
  • We have copied the data from the old system and imported it into the new system.
  • We have installed and customized the self-installing client software and performed a network-wide rollout.
  • We have documented the process.
  • We have addressed any other goals that were not outlined above.

That is what we do.

Exchange Migration Methodology for 2005

  • We rely on virtual machine technology to immediately improve the situation
  • We first assess the current state of backups and improve the architecture, if necessary
  • The entire affected environment is then cloned into a Vmware product
  • The original servers are then removed from the network
  • We implement the migration and test various failure scenarios in our lab offsite without impacting the production network in any way
  • We then implement the migration after being fully satisfied with our lab results

We migrate systems and networks regardless of their complexity.
