Backup

Backup. The often overlooked, yet critically important component of your business systems.

Tell me honestly, do you backup your systems religiously? Can you restore from those backups? How far back can you go without losing any data? Do you review your logs? Does your backup software support every business-critical application? Have you tested the system in the last 2 months? Do you have a written and feasible business continuity plan?

Chances are, unfortunately, that you will answer "no" to at least one of the above questions. Having a reliable backup system is like having a health insurance, you don't want to have it, but you must have it at the time the disaster strikes. While the systems of our design are typically highly available, they will likely be located locally and thus vulnerable to any number of disasters capable of affecting your building. A disaster can also strike from within.

OK, are you scared enough? You don't have to be. Let me describe what will happen after we implement a backup solution for your business.

Let us not talk about how we are going to accomplish your goals, but instead let's look at the finished product.

Here is the result after the core of our work for you is complete in our role as Backup System Designers as of 12/31/2001:

  • We have upgraded or acquired backup software to support all your business applications.
  • We have implemented a status notification system, especially if the backup fails for any reason.
  • We have secured a contract with a vendor of offsite storage.
  • We have created a comprehensive document of your enterprise backup system with a complete checklist to follow at any point of your backup system's lifecycle.
  • We have addressed any other goals that were not outlined above.

That is what we do.

We design and implement reliable backup environments.
