We were brought in to upgrade from a Linux server. We like Linux, but it falls short where deep integration with various Microsoft technologies is desired. This was not an easy upgrade because the Linux server was difficult to access. Needless to say, we didn't have the passwords.

Small Business Server 2003 installed quite happily on the Linux hardware. An Opteron-powered server is a powerful machine, and so it was well suited for the task.

Among other things, we achieved a nearly seamless migration between platforms, created and wired a remote disaster recovery office, setup multiple wireless networks in employees' homes, adapted network multi-function printer to save data directly to the server, and that is just a small list among many other activities.
